The entire Duke basketball team is excited about the enticing skills Cooper Flagg brings to the 2024 program, but head coach Jon Scheyer decided to put it into words when he officially welcomed the number one recruit from the United States.

'I've had the honor of knowing Cooper for a while,' he said via League Ready. That in itself speaks volumes about the kind of player he is, his ability to compete, his incredible versatility on the defensive end, his ability to cover and defend 1-5. And on the offensive side, scoring, passing, ball handling. Whatever you want from him, he can do it. He is a special player ...... and he will be a special addition to our team."

Coaches are always excited about their new acquisitions, but Scheyer is clearly excited about the chance to further mold this outstanding future star. Flagg, who is only 16 years old (birthday in December), was originally supposed to play in the 2025 class, but was transferred to the 2024 class. He is currently the highest ranked player in the country.

It is really impressive that he has made the jump to number one. His 6-foot-5 frame and active hands make him a high-caliber defender from the start, but his progression on the offensive side has raised his ceiling to incredible heights.

Flagg fits perfectly into Shea's system, which emphasizes ball movement, unselfishness and versatility. He can score both inside and outside and is an excellent passer and rebounder. He is also an excellent defender and can defend multiple positions.

Flagg is a five-star and is widely regarded as the best player in the 2024 class. He is expected to make an immediate impression at Duke and become a potential future NBA star.
